Health Insurance and Health Equity

New Beginnings welcomes Reneka Evans, who is the Lead COVID-19 Health Program Rep., Senior for the LGBTQ community. Reneka is currently working with the Minnesota Department of Health to close the gap between health injustice and health equity. Reneka’s goal is to fight tirelessly against COVID-19.  

Lynn Bahta is a public health nurse at the Minnesota Department of Health. As a vaccine expert, Lynn is working to get information about COVID-19 vaccine to many different Minnesota communities so that they can make the best decision about getting vaccinated. Co-Host Joe McKenzie reminds us that success can come at any age.

Managing Your Health

Shirlynn LaChapelle, of the Minnesota Black Nurses Association, and Yolanda Adams Lee are working together to help Minnesotans manage their health during COVID 19. They talked about their efforts with Freddie Bell. New Beginnings was also on location at a COVID 19 testing site in St. Paul. There, Freddie Bell learned of new advances in COVID testing with Andrew Virden, representing the Minnesota Department of Health. Joe McKenzie, the founder of Ripple Connects, talks about using the STAR Method of interviewing and we hear from AARP Twin Cities concerning scams and frauds during the pandemic.
