Anna Lynn is the Mental Health Promotion Coordinator at the MN Department of Health. She works on changing the conversation and understanding about mental health, to help us understand it as more than the absence of illness. She also works to create opportunities for communities to promote mental well-being across a range of domains-from social connections and skills to promoting access to nature and equity. Lynn says COVID Stress is an ongoing traumatic event-it’s about life and death, it was unexpected, it has lasted a long time, there is unprecedented uncertainty, it's impacting everything we do and care about, and its world-wide. She talks with New Beginnings' Freddie Bell. Joe McKenzie, Founder of Ripple Connects talks about meaningful gifts. Dr. Sara Vetter is the Assistant Division Director of the Public Health Laboratory for the Minnesota Department of Health. Dr. Vetter talks with Freddie Bell about the importance of getting tested for COVID-19. Carolyn Deters, Executive Director of Gifts for Seniors says social isolation and loneliness are serious health issues and can become more common with age. The arrival of the novel coronavirus has almost certainly made the problem worse. She also says the organization is hosting their 27th Annual Holiday Gift Drive for Isolated Seniors. You can brighten the holiday season for an isolated older adult in need by supporting the annual holiday gift drive for our neighbors in the Twin Cities metro who may not have friends or family.
